Efficient Safety Management Systems

Railway companies in Germany require a safety certificate for operating a public railway service. For this they have to establish a safety management system according to §7a AEG (German General Railway Act). – Which requirements will this involve for your company? What will you have to look out for? What is a process landscape? What are processes, and what records are required?

We at KUGLER MAAG CIE will support you in evaluating your existing safety management system (SMS) in accordance with guideline 2004/49/EG. We will help you with improving your SMS - or developing a SMS - according to part A and B of the safety certificate (SiBe).

The German Federal Railway Authority (Eisenbahnbundesamt, EBA) expects your SMS to be company-specific, in line with your business goals and your safety culture. Based on these specifications, we will look out for an effective and efficient implementation of the requirements. We will avoid unnecessary documentation, create forms for records and process descriptions, which are easy to understand, and support you in communicating with the Federal Railway Authority.

We have experience in developing safety management systems for railway companies, and - together with a railway company - filed the first SMS with the Federal Railway Authority to obtain a safety certificate according to part A and B.

We will be happy to support you in meeting the regulations and defined requirements, and in translating them into a safety management system.
