New international certification standard in the transportation industry
Given the restructuring processes at the rail operators as well as technical and legal harmonizations rail traffic markets are changing.
To be able to meet the demands of the operators for quality and reliability of the rolling stock an international rail-specific standard was developed - IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) - under the auspices of UNIFE (Union des Industries Ferroviaires Européennes) and based on the DIN EN ISO 9001 standard for management systems. IRIS now serves as the evidence required of suppliers to gain access to the railcar industry.
