The safety standard ISO 26262 (Road Vehicles – Functional Safety), which applies to safety-related electrical and electronic systems in motor vehicles, has been published in November 2011. 

Now vehicles can only be put on the market if their safety-related systems have been developed and manufactured in accordance with ISO 26262.The standard is relevant worldwide.
