AUTOMOTIVE DEVELOPMENT – iNTEGRATED RATHER THAN OFF THE SHELF

In automotive E/E development, you encounter numerous – even diverging – expectations, requirements, regulations, standards and activities: e.g. project management, configuration management, Automotive SPICE®, functional safety, cybersecurity, and SOTIF. We integrate all these activities across your product lifecycle, taking into account their perspectives. With 'Automotive integrated Development', you dispose of a blueprint of an integrated E/E development.

INTEGRATED E/E DEVELOPMENT, this MEANS THAT WE…

  • Start with the requirements that dictate your area of business to develop concepts that will empower you to fulfil these requirements
  • Identify, assess and improve workflows, organisational structures, roles, methods and the resulting company culture – all within context
  • Think in terms of business units and departments, involving all stakeholders
  • Support staff and provide detailed training
  • Assess and take into account different guidelines (even conflicting ones) relating to innovation capabilities, goal orientation, commercial viability, adaptability, durability and maintainability – all within the context of your requirements. To do this, we apply process and reference models such as Automotive SPICE®, and agile methods – always taking the framework conditions such as cybersecurity and functional safety into account.

PROCEDURAL MODELS, STANDARDS AND METHODS WITHIN AiD

AUTOMOTIVE SPICE®

Automotive SPICE® has become the de facto industry standard for developing automotive electronics. By using this reference model you can systematically improve your processes and assess the status of your projects. To develop mechatronic systems on an integrated basis, there are also extensions for these domains.

AUTOMOTIVE CYBERSECURITY ADHERING TO ISO 21434 AND UNECE

To shield connected vehicles from external attacks and protect vehicle infrastructures, you need to install end-to-end safeguards that address all factors with a bearing on vehicle cybersecurity: the product itself, processes and IT systems.

FUNCTIONAL SAFETY ADHERING TO ISO 26262

Applying the principles of functional safety allows you to avoid malfunctions occurring in electronic systems that might have a bearing on vehicle safety and present a hazard to people. ISO 26262:2018 is the recognised method for doing this.

AUTOMOTIVE AGILE

Agility refers to the ability of a company to adapt to changing parameters in such a way that it is always ready to react if there is a change in customer requirements. We help you become agile, step by step.

SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

The AiD blueprint also includes indispensable systems engineering virtues, from project management (Video) and quality assurance (Video) to configuration management.

CMMI

CMMI® is an established reference model, offering you a structured approach that is not just useful when enhancing and controlling how you develop or procure software, but also when improving and managing hardware, mechatronic systems and services.

Interview with Mr Integrated

In our interview with Christian Hertneck, you will learn how to take advantage of the blueprint for an integrated development lifecycle to ensure transparency and always perform the required activities at the right time.

IMPROVING SOFTWARE QUALITY

To improve software quality, we support Volkswagen with process improvements in its supply base.

Numerous process specialists at Kugler Maag Cie are now official Volkswagen-certified Software Quality Leaders (SQIL). This allows them to support suppliers to VW as independent advisors on process improvements.

AiD @ Green Hills Software

Discover more about how Green Hills Software, the US West Coast's leading embedded software provider, deployed AiD to establish an end-to-end development lifecycle that includes all requirements – Cybersecurity, Automotive SPICE®, and Functional Safety.

ASSESSMENTS, AUDITS AND GAP ANALYSIS

To lay a foundation for your decision-making, we assess how well positioned you are with respect to a variety of key questions. To do this, we offer you a number of formal assessments, audits and appraisals for Automotive SPICE®, functional safety and CMMI®. We can also conduct quick checks, gap analysis and stocktaking exercises focusing on the requirements of automotive and business capabilities such as agility. We will show you how your unit, department or company compares to the competition. This allows you to understand the changes you will need to make to adhere to new or changing requirements.

We perform Functional Safety Assessments (FSA) as an inspection body. For this purpose, we were audited by the German National Accreditation Body, DAkkS, and successfully accredited as a type C inspection body.

TRAINING AND COACHING SERVICES

Competent and motivated people are the key to successful implementation. We offer fast-track training and coaching services to allow your people to acquire specialist knowledge and the skills they will require to implement improvements as part of front-line projects. Our coaching services provide valuable support during times of transformation, ensuring that changes gain acceptance and are lived out and believed in during projects.
